Brendan Rodgers Claims Scott Brown Would Have Kept Gerrard or Henderson Out of Liverpool Squad

Celtic Boss Brendan Rodgers admits that had Scottish international Scott Brown been at Liverpool during his reign at the club, he would have replaced either Jordan Henderson or Steven Gerrard.

Rodgers was sacked by Liverpool at the start of the 2015/16 season having spent three years at the club, and was most remembered for his Redsside of 2013/14 who almost won the league but for a dramatic melt down in the final games of the campaign.

Speaking of his current Celtic squad now, according toFootball365,Rodgers has singled out club captain Scott Brown as the man who perhaps could have made the difference in those infamous final few games at Merseyside in 2014, and backs him to transfer his skills to the elite levels of the Premier League.

"The biggest compliment I can give him is that, having worked in what is supposedly is the best league in the world, Scott Brown, if I look at my Liverpool team that nearly won the title, he would definitely have been in it," said Rodgers in reference to replacing either Henderson or club legendGerrard in that holding midfield role.

There's no doubt about that, so that's the level that the guy is at as a player and as a captain, you want him in your team and on your side.

It's the biggest accolade I can give Scott.

But, thankfully, he's chosen to play nearly 10 years at Celtic, and still looks as strong and fit.
