Brighton plans to give striker Danny Welbeck a new contract

Brighton wants striker Danny Welbeck to stay at the club beyond the summer after his header helped the team get a point against Leicester.

Welbeck has played in just nine Premier League games this season due to a hamstring injury.

He has scored three goals this season, scoring in the reverse game at Leicester, a memorable 1-1 draw at Chelsea with a header off the bench, and another late header tonight at the King Power.

In the first half against Leicester, Brighton was not at their best, but after falling behind, they improved. The introduction of Tariq Lamtey and Danny Welbeck off the bench turned the game around for Albion.

"As long as I am a part of this club I would love to have Danny around.

"He has put in so much off the pitch as well. He is a great guy, one of them that looks after other people, that try to push every day

"And of course we are so happy to have him here."
