Burglars Steal £60k-Worth of Jewlry From Real Madrid Star's Home During Dortmund Clash

Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane was the victim of burglary by a group of thieves during the club's Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund, stealing £60k-worth of possessions.

The French international was a part of the side that conceded a late equalising goal at the Bernabeu to draw 2-2 and also concede top spot in their Champions League group, but his evening went from bad to worse when getting home that evening.

According to the Spanish news outletEl Mundo, the 23-year-oldcalled the police and Real Madrid's security team on his return, but admitted thathe had not switched his alarm on before leaving his houseas he was late leaving the property to get to the game.

A gang reportedly broke into the player's housein La Moraleja, which is just north of the Spanish capital, byentering through an annex that was being renovated before forcing the front door open after scouting the player's house for a few days previous.

The thieves reportedly managed totake 12 gold watches, cash, clothes and jewellery, however the police are said to have several leads for their investigation into the crime,with an Audi A4 seen outside the annex, while onewitness suggested they saw 'three or four people taking a case out of the house and putting it in the car'.


This isn't the first time a footballer's house has been targeted with an organised attack recently,with Luis Figo losing nearly £420,000-worth of possessions during a robbery at his home at the end of November.
