Burnley manager Sean Dyche admitted his side were second best to West Brom after their 4-0 defeat at the Hawthorns.
Goals from Matt Phillips, James Morrison and Darren Fletcher put the Baggies three goals up at half-time before Salomon Rondon put the game beyond doubt after the break, and Dyche claimed his side simply didn't show up for Monday's game.
"It was not good enough - the first half particularly. The game was done at half-time," Dyche toldBBC Sport.
"We just got drunk on keeping the ball and playing in front of them and that is what they want you to do so they can counter attack. We got sucked into it - even though we had told the players what to expect.
"We have good points on the board but you have to build on what you are doing at home and take that on the road. I think some of that is a mentality thing - to play with more belief."
The Hawthorns has not been a happy hunting ground for Dyche, who suffered a nasty injury during his playing days at the groundand has been unsuccessful during recent visits as a manager.
483 “ Burnley attempted 483 passes versus West Brom; their highest total in a Premier League game. Wasteful.
"We have had two below-par performances on TV - here and at Southampton, we were miles off it.
"I broke my leg here at 17 and I have never had a result here - one of the few grounds in the country where I have had nothing."
The result leave Burnley in 12th place in the Premier League, with West Brom leapfrogging the Clarets to sit ninth.
