Former coach of Asante Kotoko C.K Akonnor supports the club to overcome Kano Pillars in their second tie in the CAF Champions League preliminary stage on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium having lost their first game by 3-2 in Nigeria.

Akonnor said the Porcupine Warriors are the favourites with a better chance of progressing to the next stage of the tournament.

“They did well in the first leg, two goals at this stage and in this competition is gold".

"A 1-0 win on Sunday will even be good for them to progress and I honestly think they have a better chance of going through,”

The former head coach led Kotoko to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup and won them the Normalisation Committee Special Competition Tier I.

He, however, left the club after he was made technical director following the appointment of Kjetil Zachariassen as head coach.

The aggregate winner of the Kotoko-Pillars game will face either  Hafia FC of Guinea or Tunisian club Etoile du Sahel in the second round of qualifying.
