Former head coach for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Charles Kwablah Akonnor has backed Kotoko to beat Etoile du Sahel this weekend when they host them in the CAF Champions League whiles citing that the away side will have no chance of tasting victory.

The two sides are chasing qualification to the group stage of the continental inter-club competition but will need a positive result from the upcoming first leg fixture of the double-header.

Speaking in an interview with Kumasi FM ahead of the big match, CK Akonnor says he is convinced the Porcupine Warriors will cruise to victory based on the progress of the team in the recent matches.

“This is the champions league, it’s a different level but I have seen the progress of Asante Kotoko and I think once things are done properly they will win”.

“In Kumasi, the opponent have nothing to look for, they don’t have a chance in Kumasi, they will lose.”

“Kotoko has to win convincingly because they will go for the away match, which will be very difficult to come away with the all-important win so they have to do the job in Kumasi on Sunday”, the former manager said.

He added, “For me, I’m certain the opponent will not win in Kumasi, it’s impossible but the fact that they will not win means Kotoko has to win convincingly.

“It’s important for Kotoko to know exactly what to do to hurt the opponent, they have to look for their weakness and utilize it to their advantage but I’m very confident that with the supporters Kotoko will carry the day”.

The match between Kotoko and Etoile du Sahel comes off on Sunday, September 15, 2019, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
