Leading marksman for Obuasi Ashanti Gold, Shafiu Mumuni has expressed confidence ahead of the side’s CAF Confederations Cup match with RS Bekane tomorrow and has noted that he will score on the day.

The Ghana Premier League giants are expected to locks horns with their Algerian counterparts in a mouthwatering encounter this weekend for the first leg of the second round of this year’s second-tier inter-club competition.

Speaking in an interview with GHANAsoccernet.com ahead of the match, Shafiu Mumuni says it is his duty to score goals and is optimistic he will be on target.

“God willing I will score on Saturday. It is my job to put the ball at the back of the net for the team to win. Definitely it is going to happen”, he said.

He added, “As you can see training today was intense and very radical. Coach has been teaching us how to finish”.

Shafiu Mumuni was instrumental for the Miners at the preliminary stage of the competition when he helped them to post a 4-1 aggregate win over Equatorial Guinea side Akonangui FC.

Having missed the first leg which ended 1-1, he returned to the starting eleven of the yellow and blacks in the second leg and bagged a sensational first-half hat-trick that steered his side to a 3-0 emphatic win.

He will be leading the lines for head coach Ricardo Da Rocha when Ashanti Gold host RS Bekane at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium on Saturday, September 14, 2019.
