Head Coach for Kano Pillars, Ibrahim Musa has admitted that Kumasi Asante Kotoko will give his side a tough match when they two meet next month for the first leg of the preliminary stage of the 2019/2020 CAF Champions League.
The Nigerian giants have been paired against the Ghana Premier League heavyweight as they seek progression into the group phase of CAF top tier inter-club competition.
Speaking in an interview over the weekend following Kano Pillars’ triumph in the Aiteo Cup, Coach Ibrahim Sunday noted despite his team’s victory, they need to stay focused ahead of the important assignment against the Porcupine Warriors.
“Notwithstanding our Aiteo Cup victory, we have another task ahead of us on the continent. So, I hope we will not get carried away by these celebrations and lose focus”, the gaffer said.
Nonetheless, he is hoping his lads will draw motivation from the win in the Aiteo cup to ensure they cruise past Kotoko when they host team at the Sani Abacha Stadium for the first leg.
“We need full concentration to face a big team with a big history in African football”.
“Asante Kotoko is two-time champions, they are one of the oldest teams so I hope this win will push us to face them in Kano to beat them so when we go back to Ghana anything can happen”, Coach Ibrahim Musa highlighted.
The first leg of the preliminary stage of the CAF Champions League between Kano Pillars and Kotoko will be played on Saturday, August 10, 2019.
