The Porcupine Warriors enhanced their chances of qualifying from the group stage for the first time since 2008 with a comfortable victory over the Zambian giants after they lost to the same opponent 3-1 in a week ago in Kitwe.

“Plus 3 gained, good character from all the lads, massive support from the fans! We focus on the next one !,” he posted on Twitter after the game.

Striker Abdul Fatawu Safiu slotted in a beautiful free kick to the near post which beat goalkeeper Allan Chibwe to put Kotoko in front.

Emmanuel Gyamfi connected home a rebound after Daniel Darkwah’s powerful cross from the left came off the upright and back into play to double the lead in the 24th minute.

Two minutes later, Martin Antwi powerfully struck a free-kick from the right flank with his left foot, which flew over the goalkeeper into the net.

Asante Kotoko will welcome Sudanese giants Al Hilal to the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi next Sunday.
