CAF Confederation Cup: Kotoko coach C.K Akunnor wants more signings to improve team

Head coach of Asante Kotoko Charles Kwablan Akonnor has revealed he would like to add a few more players to his current squad despite the bulk purchase at their disposal.

The Porcupine Warriors have augmented their squad with eleven new players ahead of their participation in the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup which begins in November.

According to the former Hearts of Oak and AshantiGold gaffer, he would be happy if he could further strengthen his team by signing more players before the start of the competition.

"We're looking forward to strengthen and improve the team. But it's difficult to get the players we're interested. So we're looking forward to sign expatriate players. And that is very difficult so we need to take our time," C.K Akonnor told Oyerepa FM.

"I would be elated if we can get some of the local players that we've targeted but most of the clubs are unwilling to release them. That is why we intend to look outside. That is also very risky because you wouldn't know much about the player. But we're working on it. And I think by the close of the transfer timeline we'll get a good outcome," he ended.

Asante Kotoko are currently preparing in Takoradi ahead of CAF inter-club competition as they await their opponent in the qualifying round.
