Kenyan giants Kariabangi Sharks have secured a broadcast deal for Saturday’s CAF Confederation Cup first leg tie against Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Kasarani Stadium on Saturday.
Chinese pay-TV giants StarTimes will show the game live across Africa at exactly 3.00pm Kenyan time.
“All parties, including the crew who will produce the game, have agreed and everything is set to have fans across Africa, especially from Kenya and Ghana, enjoy the game on TV,” a close source told Kahawa Tungu.
The second leg encounter will take place in Ghana at the Baba Yara Stadium next week and it be will live on the same platform.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) allows host clubs to cash in on the broadcast rights before the tournament enters the more controlled group stage where a single dealer exclusively owns the rights.
The Kenyan side managed to take advantage of a considerable amount of interest the fixture has generated especially in Ghana to secure the deal.
Asante Kotoko will be making a return to CAF second-tier competition after years in the cold and this is actually generating a lot of excitement to the fans.
Meanwhile, the Porcupine Warriors left Kumasi on Tuesday and spent the night in Addis Ababa.
They will connect to Nairobi from the Ethiopian capital on Wednesday morning.
The winner of the two-legged encounter will enter the playoffs stage where they will face one of the CAF Champions League first-round losers for a spot in the lucrative group stage.
Coach C.K Akunnor and his lads will be looking to take an early advantage ahead of the second leg in Ghana.
