CAF President Confirms Executive Committee Meeting Over AFCON Host

Dr.Ahmad Ahmed, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revealed that a new host of Africa Cup of Nations 2019 will be announced come January 9, when the executive members of the head of Africa football meets.

Following an annual meeting held in Ghana, Accra on November 30, Cameron were stripped off the hosting right after they were conceded in prepared. Since then, CAF reopened a bid for the host of the tournament slated June-July next year.

Ahmad Ahmad, however revealed to the media that, naming of new host will be announced next month at Dakar when the executive members of the house meet.

"Everything will be finalized by 25 December to create a shortlist of countries who have been evaluated and noted".

"Executive committee of CAF will meet in Dakar on January 9, where we make a decision", he told AFP.

Former Issah Hayatou years ago announced the host of Cameron 2019 AFCON as Cameron, 2021 as Ivory Coast and 2023 for Guinea.This will hit the deadlock, since CAF is poised to award Cameron with one of the hosting right.

Meanwhile, South Africa has sent in a bid to host the immediate June 2019 AFCON.Stepping in stronger for it.

"According to information I have, two or three letters of intent has arrived".South Africa is one of the countries to have forward letter of intentions".

" Two or three countries has made serious inquiries", he added.

Expiration of re-opened date for bidding to become host elapses on December 14.
