Ghana will know her opponent for the semi-finals of the CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament by close of today when all Group B matches are honoured.
The Black Meteors as they are called sailed through to the last four stage of the continental showpiece currently ongoing in Egypt after posting a 2-0 win over Mali on Thursday night.
That crucial win gave the side 4 points at the end of all three rounds of matches in Group A with the host nation topping the chart with 9 maximum points.
Though Cameroon finished with 4 points as well, goal difference knocked them out as it favored the Ghanaian side.
Having crossed the hurdle of the Group Stage, Coach Ibrahim Tanko and his side will know their semi-final opponent today.
Group B remains open with three teams - South Africa, Cote d’Ivoire, and Nigeria – all with the chance of finishing top of the standings or second and progressing through to the knockout stage.
What that means is that the Black Meteors can face any of the 3 teams.
In the upcoming matches this evening, Nigeria will face South Africa with Cote d’Ivoire scheduled to take on Zambia who has no chance of qualifying no matter the result they get.
Ghana remains determined to beat any opponent they meet in the semi-finals to ensure they get to the finals of the tournament and secure qualification to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games as well.
