Caleb Ekuban counting on Champions League experience to help new side Leeds United

New Leeds United signing Caleb Ekuban is hoping to replicate his UEFA Champions League experience in helping the English Championship side.

The 23-year old who has joined Leeds from Albanian side Partizan Tirana is yet to debut in the 3-week-old English Championship.

Ekuban who is eager to start playing for the side says his past experience from playing in the Uefa Champions League will be crucial to the club's pursuit of securing a spot in next season's English top-flight.

“Last year we (Tirana) played against top teams in the Champions League,” Ekuban told The Yorkshire Evening Post.

“We competed well but they were too good.

“I learned something from those games. When you have the ball, you have to secure it in every way and do the same in every position on the pitch. A lost ball can become a goal very quickly.

“That’s what I learned. I need to do the same here because the defenders in the Championship are top defenders. They don’t give you opportunities. I’m trying to learn this.”

The attacker scored 17 league goals in the Albanian Super League last season and is hoping to repeat his scoring form in England.
