Caleb Ekuban's brace send Trabzonspor into Turkish Cup sixth round

Ghanaian striker Caleb Ekuban was on target in Trabzonspor's 5-0 hammering of Sivas Belediyespor in the Turkish Cup at the Medical Park Arena on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old bagged a brace to help the Black Sea Storm progress to the next round of the cup competition on a 7-2 aggregate after a 2-2 draw on the first leg.

Ekuban, who joined the Turkish outfit on loan from English side Leeds United, has taken his total goal tally for his new club to five, having found the back the of the net on three more occasions in the Super Lig.

Trabzonspor took the lead via a 9th-minute strike from Batuhan Artarslan before the Ghanaian made it 2-0 in the 17th minute.

In the 35th minute, Olcay Sahan set up the Ekuban to bag his brace of the game.

Vahid Amiri scored to power the lead to 4-0 seven minutes after the interval before Abdulkadir Parmak netted the last goal in the 78th minute to seal the win.

Ekuban will hope to add to his goal tally when Black Sea Storm host Rizespor in the Super Lig on Sunday.

The former Chievo Verona player is born to Ghanaian parents in Italy and is eligible to play for both Ghana and Italy at international level. On 12 July 2017, Ekuban revealed it is his intention to represent Ghana.

On 20 April 2018, he met with Ghana national team head coach Akwasi Appiah.
