English-born Ghanaian international, Callum-Hudson Odoi is set to start for Chelsea in their Uefa Champions League match against Ajax tonight, manager Frank Lampard has hinted.

The teenager who has finally hit top gear after returning from a long term injury was handed a starting role for the Blues over the weekend when they hosted Newcastle United at the Stamford Bridge.

The winger impressed throughout his stay on the pitch and has convinced his boss that he should be started in today’s crunch meeting with Dutch Eredivisie Champions Ajax.

Responding to a question in a pre-match interview on whether Odoi gets to start, Lampard shared, “I think he is. ‘So are some other players and there comes my problem but it’s a competitive squad.

“Just talking about Callum, his performance was huge [against Newcastle]. We know his talent. The problems he gave Newcastle was what I want to see consistently from him.

“He certainly is ready, there’s no guarantees [with young players] but he is”.

This will be his first start in the Uefa Champions League even though he was key in their last game against Lille in France when they recorded a 2-1 win.
