Abdul Salam Yakubu, the owner, and bankroller of New Edubiase Football Club (GFA) has insisted that the decision by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to cancel the football season was the right one.

On June 30, 2020, the Ghana FA at the end of an extensive Executive Committee meeting announced that they have canceled the football season which has been suspended for the past 3 months as a result of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis.

In an interview with Angel 102.9 FM, Abdul Salam Yakubu says he agrees with the cancelation of the 2019/2020 football season.

“Government did not just stop football when the Coronavirus crisis came. They stopped all activities including churches. So right now even the trip to Mecca has been canceled so I believe if football is canceled it is no big deal”, the New Edubiase owner said.

He added, "So I will say it is a good decision that the Executive Committee has taken. I will bring peace and allow clubs to prepare. I don’t know all the fallouts from the meeting but am yet to call some people to find out the other decisions that have been taken besides the cancelation of the season. For now, what I will say is that they [the GFA Exco have done well”.
