Champions Hearts of Oak swept all the major awards at the Ghana Football Association's GPL Awards event. Hearts trainer Samuel Boadu picked up the best coach of the season award while sensational Salifu won the best player.

The pair were members of the Hearts of Oak side that broke a decade-long drought by winning the league and cup double.

Salifu and Boadu joined the club in the middle of the season, but their combination proved lethal as they pushed the squad to victory.

Salifu, who came from Eleven Wonders, won the prize ahead of colleagues Gladson Awako and Benjamin Afutu, as well as Diawisie Taylor and Augustine Boakye.

The left-footed dynamic midfielder had a fantastic season, receiving eight man of the match honours, the most by a player in the season.

Hearts of Oak lost only two games under Samuel Boadu to win the Ghana Premier League for the first time since 2009.

Coach Samuel Boadu also led the club to the MTN FA Cup championship.

The former Medeama SC coach received the prize ahead of Great Olympics' Annor Walker, Kotoko's Mariano Barreto, and WAFA's Dr Prosper Nartey.
