CHAN 2022: Algeria and Senegal advance to semi-finals after wins in quarter-finals

Two participating countries of the 2022 CAF Championship of African Nations (CHAN) tournament are through to the semi-finals.

After the conclusion of the Group Phase of the ongoing tournament in Algeria, the quarter-finals have commenced today.

In the first knockout game, host nation Algeria clashed with the Ivory Coast in a game that kicked off at 4 pm.

Despite a spirited and hard-fought effort from Ivory Coast, Algeria had the last laugh.

A late goal ensured that the host nation marched on to reach the semi-finals of the CHAN 2023 tournament.

This evening, the second quarter-final match of the day has also been cleared. In a contest that started at 7 pm, Senegal faced off with Mauritania in a similar closely contested affair as the first quarter-final game.

A solitary equalizer in the first half at the end of the 90 minutes has seen Senegal secure a delightful win.

As a result, Senegal are also through to the semi-finals of the CHAN 2022 tournament.

Tomorrow, it will be the turn of Ghana when the Black Galaxies take on their counterpart from Niger.

That game kicks off at 7 pm.
