CHAN 2023: Ghanaian referee Daniel Laryea appointed VAR official for opening match between Algeria and Libya

Ghanaian referee, Daniel Laryea will be on VAR duty on Friday night when the CHAN 2023 tournament commences in Algeria.

Later tonight, host Nation Algeria will face off with Libya in the first match of the tournament.

In addition to Daniel Laryea, his compatriot Kwasi Acheampong Brobbey will also be on duty for the opening match.

“Ghana’s Daniel Laryea and Kwasi Acheampong Brobbey will be on duty on the opening day of the Championship of African Nations – CHAN 2022 tournament on Friday.

“The duo will play different roles in the opening match between host Algeria and Libya at the Nelson Mandela stadium in Algiers. Acheampong Brobbey has been appointed as one of the Assistant referees while Daniel Laryea works as Assistant VAR for the game that is scheduled for 20H00 kick off,” a statement by the Ghana FA said on Friday.

Ghana will be represented by the Black Galaxies at the CHAN 2023 tournament.

Pitted in Group C, the Black Galaxies will not be in action until Sunday when the national team takes on their counterpart from Madagascar.
