Former Ghana Premier League icon, Charles Asampong Taylor has made astonishing revelations about his feelings for former club Hearts of Oak and has disclosed why he didn't make an impact in Europe.
The former footballer who took his turn on the Delay Show on Saturday, March 2 explained that the team was the reason his dream of playing in abroad ended.
The ex-footballer was expected to take European football by storm following his exploits in Ghana. However, the dream of making it in Europe was surprisingly curtailed by his former employers Hearts Of Oak.
Narrating a very sad story, Charles Taylor who is now an associate pastor said initially when he was brought from his hometown, he was promised a spot in Asante Kotoko, but E.T Mensah who was then the Sports Minister threatened him that if he ever wanted to don the colors of any of the national teams then he should sign for Hearts Of Oak.
He said, after accepting to sign for the capital-based club, he also got an opportunity to play for Brescia in Italy through former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah's recommendation for four hundred thousand dollars.
He impressed the technical handlers of the team and were prepared to sign him and sell him on to Juventus as they did with Appiah.
According to Taylor, he came back home to gather his stuff only for Hearts of Oak to block the deal and told him there was a better deal from a Swiss club which appeared to be untrue.
Asked how much he gained from the money Hearts paid to sign him, Charles Taylor said he didn’t get a dime, because his manager, one Jonathan Laryea took all the money to rent a shop to sell items.
He, however, said in a jovial way, that he got a black Golf 2 car from the whole deal.
Charles Asampong Taylor Bismark is one of the most talented players to ever grace the domestic scene, after helping Accra Hearts of Oak to win multiple Ghana Premier League titles as well the CAF Champions League in the year 2000.
Taylor went on to play for Kumasi Asante Kotoko and was the star of local Black Stars in the maiden edition of the Championship of Africa Nations (CHAN) in Ivory Coast.
