Chelsea coach Sarri predicts end of Juventus’ Serie A dominance

Despite not being able to break the hegemony of Juventus in Italy while coaching Napoli, Chelsea tactician Maurizio Sarri believes that the Bianconeri’s dominance of Serie A will come to an end this season.

La Vecchia Signora are one of the favourites to win the 2018/19 Champions League, with the arrival of Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo increasing those chances, and the former Partenopei coach reckons that could benefit the other Italian clubs.

“This Juventus has a priority, the Champions League,” Sarri told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“At the end of the day, it could prove to be a small advantage for the competition.

Sarri left Napoli at the end of the 2017/18 campaign, much to the anger of Partenopei president Aurelio De Laurentiis. Despite the acrimonious nature of his departure, the 59-year-old is still grateful for the opportunity to coach in his hometown.

“I have nothing to say,” Sarri said. “I can only thank him for it. He gave me the greatest personal satisfaction of my life entrusting me with Napoli, the team of my heart and my origins.

“It was a magnificent adventure that cannot be cancelled by a departure like this.”
