Chelsea defender Baba Rahman has played down reports of a summer transfer to Turkish giants Galatasary this summer after departing Reading following a successful loan spell.

The 27-year-old spent the 2021/22 season on loan at the Royals where he made 29 league appearances and provided one assist in the English Championship as they escape relegation with two games left to play.

Rahman has two years left on his Chelsea contract, however it looks unlikely that he will break into the team at Stamford Bridge having made just 23 appearances since joining in 2015.

Galatasaray have been liked with a summer move for the Ghanaian but he poured cold water on the speculation.

"I am just in Istanbul for personal reasons, all what people are saying that I am going to join Galatasaray are false," he told SportsWorldGhana.

Beginning his career at Dreams FC, Rahman played in the Ghanaian Premier League with Asante Kotoko.

In 2012, he signed for Bundesliga club Greuther Fürth, where he spent two seasons. He then played for FC Augsburg before joining Chelsea in 2015 for a fee of £14 million, potentially rising to £22 million.

Rahman made his international debut in 2014 and was part of their squad which were runners-up at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations
