Chelsea go for Drinkwater; targets Barkley, Ox and Llorente

Chelsea remain in the hunt for Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater.

The Daily Mail says the 27-year-old is keen to speak to the Premier League champions but Leicester are reluctant to sell a player who has been key to their progress in recent seasons.

Drinkwater is out of the season opener against Arsenal owing to a pulled thigh muscle but is expected to be fit within a fortnight.

Chelsea know he can form an effective partnership alongside former team-mate N'Golo Kante and Drinkwater has the added bonus of being homegrown.

Apart from a holding midfielder, Antonio Conte is looking for at least one wing-back, an attacking midfielder and another forward.

Everton's Ross Barkley, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain of Arsenal, Inter's Antonio Candreva and Renato Sanches at Bayern Munich have been discussed for the other midfield role while Swansea's Fernando Llorente remains a target for the attack. PSG's Serge Aurier is the latest wing-back to be mentioned.
