Chelsea's Michy Batshuayi Twitter Input Goes From Funny to Pure Ridiculous After Latest Stunt

When Belgian starlet Michy Batshuayi joined Chelsea for £32m in the summer, he would have hoped to make an impact on the pitch.

However, forced to play second fiddle to Diego Costa as Antonio Conte sets about rejuvenating the West London side, the striker has been forced to settle for making a splash with his antics on Twitter.

The Belgian has already exchanged jokes with EA Sports and teammate Nathaniel Chalobah about his poor rating on video game FIFA 17.

Despite more cutting observers saying that his continued spell on the sidelines means that he should focus on improving in real life -as well as noting that he has plenty of time to play video games -Batshuayi has done little to alleviate those concerns.

In August, he made light of his disobedience to his parents in his youth, by saying he listens to legendary striker Thierry Henry, now his coach at international level, much more intently than he ever listened to his parents.

And now, a Spongebob Squarepants inspired outfit from pop star Alicia Keys has spurred the frontman to dig out his very own tribute to the animated aqua-based pineapple dweller, naturally.

The 23-year-old was not doing things by halves, sporting a yellow baseball cap, Spongebob t-shirt and shorts, topped off by the ultimate fashion statement, socks worn alongside bright yellow flip-flops.

It is refreshing to see a young footballer seemingly enjoying himself and not taking himself too seriously, although there will doubtless be some, especially Blues fans, who believe the Belgian's social media activity is indicative of a player with his priorities all wrong.

Disciplinarian manager Conte is unlikely to have much time for Twitter and other perceived distractions, and while it is entertaining for fans, it may be worth Batshuayi leaving his Twitter account alone as he looks to force his way into the plans of the former Italy boss.
