Ghana legend, Asamoah Gyan beleives the newly assembled technical team and the Black Stars need time and patience to succeed.

Chris Hughton, who is the new head coach of the Black Stars on Thursday recorded his first win against Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The 64-year-old replaced Otto Addo on a 21-month deal and is being assisted by George Boateng and Didi Dramani.

AFC Bournemouth striker, Antoine Semenyo scored the only goal of the game in the 96th minute as the team kept its perfect start in the qualifiers.

Following the narrow win, Gyan, who played in the 2006, 2010 and the 2014 World Cups has called for patience for the team and the technical team.

"The players were under immense pressure, the weather condition was not unfavourable for them so you could see they were struggling, their movement was a bit slow but the most important thing is getting the victory," he told Kumasi-based Akoma FM.

"It's a gradual process, we have a new coach who is building a team, for me, I think securing the three points was the most important thing although we didn't have the best of games in football, a win is the most important thing.

"Let's support and be patient with the team," he added.

The Black Stars who are seeking to make their 10th Afcon appearance now sit top of Group E with 7 points after three games.

Ghana will travel to Luanda for the reverse leg in the matchday four games on Monday, March 27.

The game will be played at the Estádio 11 de Novembro with kick-off scheduled at 16:00GMT.

The Black Star are seeking to end the country's 41 years Afcon trophy drought.
