Chris Hughton will do better as Black Stars coach - Vincent Oppong Asamoah

The Member of Parliament for the Dormaa East Constituency, Vincent Oppong Asamoah beleives Chris Hughton will be a perfect appointment for the vacant Black Stars job.

The Ghana Football Association [GFA] will soon announce a new trainer for the national team following Otto Addo's departure.

The Borussia Dortmund talent coach left his role after Ghanas's early at the 2022 World Cup, where the country finished at the bottom of Group H with three points.

With the team expected to regroup for their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] doubleheader qualifiers against Angola next month, a new trainer is expected to be named for the games.

However, Oppong Asamoah, who is a former Deputy Sports Minister believes Chris Hughton, who was part of the Black Stars set before the World Cup will be a perfect fit for the team.

"I believe that someone from the technical team that led the Black Stars to the World Cup should be given the job. In my opinion, I believe Chris Houghton will be better," he told Asempa FM.

"He has coached in the Premier League before. I don't know if the Ghana Football Association will deploy to select the new coach. If I were there, I would have selected Chris Houghton," he added.

Chris Houghton had coached Tottenham Hotspurs, Ireland national team, Nottingham Forest, Newcastle, Norwich and Brighton and Hove Albion.
