Christian Atsu eager to start games for Newcastle after confirming he is in fine shape

Ghanaian striker Christian Atsu has shared that he is eager to get back into the starting eleven of his Newcastle United side on match days after working his socks off in training to get back into good shape.

The Black Stars winger started the season in a fine form where manager Steve Bruce kept faith in him during the time summer signing Allan Saint-Maximin had sustained an injury.

With the French international making full recovery as well as the availability of Matt Ritchie, Atsu has been dropped to the bench and currently struggles to get playing time.

In a recent interview, the former Chelsea FC attacker has shared that he is patiently waiting for a starting role for the Magpies while stressing that he is in a good shape at the moment.

“I’m working hard. I want to start games because I think I’m in very good shape now. I’m patiently waiting for my chance, because we have, this December, a lot of games coming. I’m preparing for that”, the winger noted

With matches piled up in December, Newcastle boss Steve Bruce will be expected to rotate his squad and will soon hand Atsu the starting role he is craving for.

First, though, he will be hoping to feature against Manchester City when they welcome them to the St James’ Park tomorrow.
