Ghanaian attacker, Christian Atsu featured for Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon as they endured a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea FC at the Stamford Bridge in the English Premier League.

The winger who previously enjoyed starting roles for the Magpies has unfortunately fallen down the pecking order again following the return of Allan Saint-Maximin from injury.

Sitting out on the bench, the Black Stars forward watched on as his side was outplayed for the first 45 minutes. Newcastle, however, managed to keep Chelsea at bay and ended the first half without conceding.

The Blues kept to their game plan and continued pushing in the second half until they broke the deadline on the 73rd-minute courtesy a strike from left-back Marcos Alonso.

Atsu was later introduced on the 82nd minute to help his teammates try and get something out of the match. His inputs contributed little as they were dominated by Frank Lampard’s side.

The match eventually ended 1-0 with Chelsea amassing all points.
