Head coach for the Ghana national team, Charles Kwablah Akonnor has insisted that Kwadwo Asamoah remain part of his plans despite his omission from the Black Stars squad for the upcoming Sudan double-header.
The Inter Milan left-wing-back has been dropped from the Black Stars squad that will be doing battle for the West African country when the next international break comes around.
Explaining why Asamoah was not included in the team, coach CK Akonnor observed that he wants the player to get some time with the Nerazzuri’s after recently gaining full fitness.
''With Kwadwo (Asamoah), you know he was injured. He just got back on his feet. Hopefully, he will stand firm and play and stay without any injury”, the gaffer noted.
He continued, ''He's an important player-very good player, but all these guys, sometimes it's important that they also have to show the interest of coming to play- sometimes there must be that desire to play for your country.
''I'm not saying he's not showing anything. I had a chance to try and talk to him and see.
''They are all important players we would need to improve.-John Boye, Jonathan Mensah, Kwadwo Asamoah and the rest and so he is part of the plan but I want to give him that space to get fit first and once he's ready we will invite him”.
Ghana’s AFCON qualifiers against Sudan will be played at the Cape Coast Stadium on March 27, 2020.
