CK Akonnor is a no nonsense coach and will succeed as head coach of Black Stars easily - Don Bortey

Second Division side Tachiman Gold Stars new signing Bernard Don Bortey is confident coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor will succeed as head coach of the Black Stars.

The 45-year-old was appointed head coach of the senior national team by the Ghana Football Association on a two-year deal.

Coach Akonnor has vast experience, having managed Ghana Premier League giants Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, Ashanti Gold SC and Sekondi Eleven Wise.

He was made captain of the Black Stars after Abedi Pele and made 41 appearances.

"CK Akonnor is a no nonsense coach, he will not be influenced by even the sports minister on player call ups.

"What CK Akonnor has done in football non of those playing for the Black Stars has done so, he will not listen to those who will ask him to use their players, so for the Black Stars coaching job he can do it easily", Bortey said in an interview with FOX 97.9 FM.
