Former head coach of Ghana Premier League giants Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Charles Kwablah Akonnor has reiterated his readiness to hold peaceful settlement talks with the club despite dragging them before the Status Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Though the waters seem calm, there is tension between the management of the Porcupine Warriors and the gaffer over some settlement issues following his surprise departure from the club.

The Kumasi-based club appointed Kjetil Zachariassen last month and tried to reassign CK Akonnor to the position of the Technical Director of the club only for him to reject.

He subsequently had to leave the club and has submitted all properties of the club upon their directive.

According to him, he is supposed to be compensated but his formal employers have refused to do the honorable thing. He has, therefore, taken legal action against the club by bringing in his lawyers and has dragged the club before the Status Committee of the GFA.

Speaking in an interview with Fox FM, CK Akonnor has noted that he is ready to have peaceful settlement with the club because he does not want the matter to escalate into a dispute.

“I gave the numbers (of my lawyers) to them (Kotoko management) to call them so that all these NC we went to resolve the issue won’t happen”.

“So the last time they said they were going to talk to the lawyers and they’ve not done it so my lawyers also took the matter to the court of arbitration which is the NC to look into the matter”, he shared.

He added, “Right now as we speak if they call them and talk to them we can leave everything and talk normal, I wouldn’t want to stretch it so it turns into conflict, I’m not in that position to do that, so it’s in their hands”.
