Former Accra Great Olympics head coach, J.E Sarpong has claimed that 60% of players in the Ghana Premier League and the National Division One League are into smoking marijuana, better known as weed.

The veteran coach in an interview with Accra-based Angel FM on Wednesday revealed that some of the clubs he has coached in the country had players who smoked weed.

Citing Ghana Premier League giants Kumasi Asante Kotoko as an example, Coach J.E Sarpong indicated that players like Clifford Odame and Robert Mensah engaged in the forbidden act [according to FIFA].

For him though, he had no problems with players who smoked weed in his team as long as it didn't affect their performance but rather helped his team to win.

“It is a bad practice if it will win the match I don’t mine. If my team win the match, I take my winning bonus and am gone”

“What I will do for my team to win is what is important”, the former Asante Kotoko coach said.
