Black Stars head coach Kwesi Appiah says he is monitoring captain Asamoah Gyan ahead of 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
According to Kwesi Appiah, having been drawn against current AFCON champions Cameroon, Benin and Guinea Bissau in Group F of the tournament, Gyan situation has being a concern.
Asamoah Gyan, captain of the Black Stars has been on the sidelines due to recurring injuries, which has pegged him off club duties and more than five international games.But Coach Kwesi Appiah insists he has his eye set on him as they plan strongly for the 32nd edition of the Africa cup of Nations.
“He is part of the players that I’m monitoring at the moment".
“He has an injury but we’re still monitoring the injury", the coach revealed.
“Since he’s a Ghanaian, what I say is every Ghanaian has got the chance [to be selected], so you never know.”
Ghana will begin their quest to end a 37-year wait for an Afcon trophy on June 25 against Benin before playing 2017 winners Cameroon four days later, a repeat of CAN 2000 group stage game and a quarter final clash when the Black Stars were beaten 2-0.
Their last game against Guinea-Bissau comes off on July 2.
