Black Starlets Coach, Paa Kwesi Fabin says has explained why he kept on starting striker Richard Danso from the bench despite his amazing performances.

The striker, who came off the bench to score two brilliant goals at the FIFA U-17 world Cup in India, became the toast of Ghanaian football fans who wanted to see him start in the game against Mali in the quarter finals.

But Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin, did not succumb to the pressure from the Ghanaian fans and kept the player on the bench.

Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin, who is back in the country revealed on local Radio Station, Happy FM, the 16 year old was made to start form the bench because of health reason.

"When it comes to some things like health issues, it's difficult to reveal it on air. But to let Ghanaians know what culminated in his role was that, during one of our training sessions in Dubai, he walked to me in the middle of the session and complained of his heart, so we decided to tread cautiously with his involvement in games,’ he revealed on Happy FM.

“So any decision we took concerning him, we had to consult the team's doctor first," Coach Fabin added.

"Because of those issues we decided to slowly integrate him into the side so that as we progress in the tournament he'll be given much game time but things didn't work out as planned."

Danso who usually came on with ten to 15 minutes to end the game was introduced a bit earlier against Mali, but it was a little too late as the young eagles beat the Black Starlets.

"In the game against Mali, we introduced him in the 50th minute but it was too late. So this is what really happened, we were treading cautiously with him on the advise of the medical team."
