Coaches will suffer if league season continues - Bashir Hayford

Veteran coach Bashir Hayford is pushing for the cancelation of the 2019/2020 football season as he stressed that coaches will suffer if the campaign continues.

The Ghana Premier League, the National Division One League, and the Women's Premier League have been on suspension since March due to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis.

While the Ghana Football Association (GFA) continues its deliberation on what should be the fate of the season, Coach Bashir Hayford is advising the body to yield and cancel the season completely.

The former Black Queens coach in an interview with Aben FM said, “I will use this opportunity to advise my colleagues, the FA and the Stakeholders in Ghana football that, we started the league with no sponsorship".

According to Coach Bashir Hayford, the Ghana FA should use this period to look for sponsorship for the league in order to be able to organize the next season very well.

"I will advise the FA to cancel the league and their time to seek for good sponsorship so they can package next season well. When we resume the league we the coaches are going to suffer a lot because we are not like Europeans. We don’t have good facilities for training and facilities for examining us. All that I want say is that the GFA should cancel the league and plan well for next season”, he added.

The Ghana FA is meeting over the fate of the season today and will come out with its final decision at the end of June.
