Coman suffers new ankle woe

Published on: 25 August 2018

France international Kingsley Coman could be set for another lengthy spell on the sidelines after injuring an ankle on Friday.

The winger sustained the problem during in the first half of Bayern Munich's 3-1 victory against Hoffenheim.

It is the same ankle Coman had surgery on in February and Bayern boss Niko Kovac fears the worst.

The 22-year-old missed World Cup 2018 because of the injury, and Kovac admitted: "It doesn't look good for now. He is in severe pain.

"He will have tests. I hope it's not serious but we are fearing the worst."

Bayern looked set to have to settle for a draw against Hoffenheim until Robert Lewandowski scored a controversial 82nd-minute penalty and Arjen Robben added a last-gasp third goal.

Kovac admitted that Bayern were fortunate to be awarded the spot-kick as Franck Ribery made the most of a Havard Nordtveit tackle.

"[The foul] wasn't crystal clear," the Croatian added. "I wouldn't have given it."

Bayern Munich can be backed at 1/9 to win the Bundesliga title again this season while they are available at 7/1 to lift the Champions League.
