Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen suffered heavy concussion during the Netherlands' 1-1 draw with Belgium on Wednesday evening.

Janssen, who was signed by Tottenham for an estimated £18.5m from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in the summer, was picked to play upfront for his national side in the friendly match, but came off after 25 minutes following a collision with Belgium keeper Simon Mignolet.

The Liverpool stopper went into a 50/50 challenge withJanssen and having punched the ball away, caught the Spurs' striker in his follow-through.

With Janssen clearly struggling with concussion following the accidental clash, the striker was brought off just before the half hour mark, but it wasn't until after the game that the seriousness of his injury wasrevealed.

Speaking in his post match press conference (as quoted by theMirror), the Holland coach Danny Blind said:"Vincent Janssen is going to be a very difficult story,"

"The physician told me it is a concussion. He lost 20 minutes of his memory, and doesn't know what happened.

When asked whether he thought Janssen would be available for Holland's World Cup Qualifier against Luxembourg on Sunday, Blind added:"We have to be careful with that and talk it through."

It rounds off what has been a difficult few months for the Tottenham striker, who has struggled to make an impression at his new club.

With first choice forward Harry Kane out injured for several weeks, Janssen wasunable to establish himself as a reliablereplacementand found himself behind South Korean Son Heung-min.

With Kane now back from injury, it's probablethat Janssen will return to the bench for Tottenham'snext few matches, as the striker is now unlikely to find any form during the internationalbreak, as he remains a serious doubt for Sunday's match with Luxembourg.
