Conglomerator Charles Ampofo linked with Asante Kotoko chairman role

The Chairman of Kampac Group Incorporated, Charles Ampofo, has emerged as a candidate for the Executive Chairman role of Asante Kotoko according to reports from Silver FM. 

The radio station has discovered that Ampofo will likely be given the go ahead to take the role from the under fire chairman, Dr. Kwame Kyei.

There have been calls for the sack of Dr. Kwame Kyei by fans and stakeholders in the last few weeks. The businessman's tenure is currently under review by the Manhyia Palace and it is expected that he will be let go by the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Profile of Charles Ampofo

He was born in Juaso, a rural place in the Asante Akyem District of Ghana. His father was a goldsmith and his mother was a housewife.

He was part of seven children born into the family. His father lost his life when he was just six years of age.

Ampofo has his "O" level education at Abuakwa State College and his "A" level education at Ahmadiyya College. The businessman later went to the US and UK to further his education.

His conglomerate, the Kampac group of companies was formed in 1988. It is an oil and gas business and its main activities are; exploration, production, oil trading, oil infrastructure development, environmental and oil services.

The group has 17 offices in 20 countries.
