Controversy as Ghanaian forward Benjamin Tetteh is accused of spitting on opposing player

Controversy sparkled over the weekend as Ghanaian international and Sparta Prague striker Benjamin Tetteh was accused of spitting on Slavia Prague captain Tomas Soucek.

The Prague derby came off on Sunday with the Slavia-based side recording an emphatic 3-0 win over their opponent.

Benjamin Tetteh ended up receiving a red card on the 83rd minute for making a dangerous tackle.

That incident led to some exchange of words on the field with tensions heightening. At the end of the match, defender Vladimir Coufal has accused the striker of spitting on him.

“Suk (Souček) told him something, and Tetteh, who was sitting on the ground, cursed him and then spit on him," Coufal said.

Meanwhile, the Ghanaian has subsequently denied the accusations, throwing the case into the gutters in the process following a decision from authorities not to come up with any sanctions.

The 22-year-old will, however, miss Sparta Prague’s next two matches after receiving the straight red card.
