Ghana's Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sudan later this month has been postponed due to the deadly Coronavirus.
Ghana was initially scheduled to face off with Sudan in a double-header encounter in the qualifiers to next year's AFCON in the final week of March.
Following a meeting between the Executive Committee of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF), they have decided to postpone the upcoming games.
According to the continent's football governing body, the decision has been taken in line with the WHO declaration that the Coronavirus is now a global pandemic.
“For the above reasons and after studying carefully the current situation, CAF has decided to postpone the Total Africa Cup of Nations 2021 Qualifiers, scheduled from 25 to 31 March 2020”, the statement said.
It added, “We will also share with you a proposal of a new calendar that will be communicated on a second step, according to the Coronavirus situation”.
The above affects Ghana's AFCON qualifier against Sudan and will only be played when a new date is set by CAF.
