Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo came up with the absolute perfect response to an alleged homophobic slur directed his way by Atletico Madrid's Koke during Saturday evening's highly-charged city derby between the La Liga giants.
Apparently labelled a 'faggot' by the Atletico midfielder, Ronaldo refused to rise to the attempt to antagonise him, before immediately hitting back with a quip about his enormous wealth.
Ronaldo scored a hat-trick in the game, the 39th treble of his career, to secure a handsome 3-0 win in their neighbour's backyard and became involved in a heated exchange with Koke that resulted in both players being cautioned.
Following the game, Spanish radio stationCOPE is alleged to have overheard a brief conversation Ronaldo had with his Real team-mates.
"Koke called me a faggot," Ronaldo is believed to have said.
After a colleague's disbelief, Ronaldo then repeated, "You are a faggot, he said to me. I said to him 'If we meet in Madrid, you'll see what I'll do'."
When the team-mate asked what that meant, Ronaldo joked, "Nothing, what am I going to do?"
When another Real player enquired as to what had gone on, Ronaldo once more stated, "Koke, he called me a faggot".
"I said yes, yes, a faggot. But a very rich one, s**t-head."
Ronaldo is set to become football's first billionaire in the future after he recently agreed a 'lifetime' contract with Nike reportedly worth up to $1bn. That's on top of his existing fortune and the other huge sums from separate income streams he also stands to make in the coming years.
