Cristiano Ronaldo Misses Training as Real Madrid Prepare for Napoli Champions League Tie

Cristiano Ronaldo missed training on Mondayas Real Madrid made their finishing touches to preparations for the Champions League tie against Napoli.


The forward is currently nursing a minor knock and remained indoors while the rest of his teammates completed drills outside ahead of Wednesday's game against Serie A side Napoli at the Bernabeu.


Ronaldo picked up a knock to his right leg during the 3-1 La Ligawin over Osasuna on Saturday, during which he scored the opener, and the club confirmed the 32-year-old, alongside full-back Fabio Coentrao, trained inside away from the rest of the squad.

"Real Madrid continued to prepare for the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against Napoli, to be played at the Bernabéu on Wednesday (8:45pm CET)," thestatementconfirmed.


"Ball work took centre stage in a session that saw Zidane call up Real Madrid Castilla player Enzo.


"The Whites completed the first session of the week, performing various possession and pressing exercises, ball circulation and crossing and finishing. Cristiano Ronaldo and Coentrão trained inside the facilities."

Ronaldo is expected to be fit for the Napoli game, and returned to training on Tuesday ahead of Wednesday's match. With three goals in his past three games, head coach Zinedine Zidane will be hoping Ronaldo shows no side affects of his injury and can put the Italian side to the sword.


Ronaldo currently has two goals and four assists in six Champions League games this season, while fellow forward Gareth Bale has recently returned to training following injury and could be available for the second leg of the tie.
