The Eagles have now established themselves as a Premier League team after being promoted from the Championship in 2013. The club have progressed further since then, becoming a regular mid-table side, whilst also reaching the FA cup final last season.

A summer of heavy spending followed, including breaking the club record transfer fee for Liverpool striker Christian Benteke and the club will now be hoping to have their best season to date.

Despite back-to-back league defeats, the club chairman praised team manager Alan Pardew and how the former Palace player has helped to create a happy environment.

When discussing the current team, Steve Parish said: "With the players, I don't think we have had a happier group since I have been involved.I mean the players were happy playing for Tony [Pulis] and others, but Alan [Pardew] is a nice guy.

"He is an outward going guy and the players like him. He works them hard, but I think everyone feels positive about things. The players want us to sign good players and they want us to do well,"

Parish was also quick to praise the players' mentality, as well as their behaviour away from the football pitch.

He added:"We have got a great bunch of lads and they do an awful lot of good things with the foundation and outside of the club, and they do it because they are nice people.

"They like to go out every now and again, but they don't do anything inappropriate. We trust them and they are a good group, that is well managed by Alan and Keith and everyone involved. But we have got to keep that going with everyone sticking together."

The Eagles face a tricky match against the league's form side Liverpool at the weekend. They will want to put a disappointingfew results behind them and continue their impressive home record over the Reds.
