Asante Kotoko coach Maxwell Konadu has hinted that the 17 year old Matthew Anim Cudjoe will receive more chances in the first team after scoring his debut goal in the victory over Ebusua Dwarfs on Sunday.

The head coach was highly impressed with the talented 16 year old who climbed off the bench to lead Porcupine Warriors to their 2-0 win.

With the match still in the balance at the Baba Yara Stadium, super sub Matthew Cudjoe broke the deadlock in the 85th minute with a delightful finish before Richard Arthur grabbed the cushion a minute later to seal a hard fought win.

Speaking to reporters after the match, Coach Maxwell Konadu hailed the impact of the youngster and assured fans that he will not hesitate to give him more playing time despite his tender years.

Kotoko will travel to Accra to face arch-rivals Hearts of Oak next Sunday in the Super clash and it is expected that Cudjoe will be involved in the tie.

“I think he is ready, Brazil has been doing it, most of the countries have been doing it at even the world cup stage.

“I think when you see such a talent and you let it go, that won’t be fair to Ghanaians,” he added.

“With the talent he has, we need to encourage him and not to rush him but gradually he is picking so let’s wait. We are not saying he is the one to change everything for Kotoko but with time but with time he can only get better.”
