It doesn't really need saying at this point, but N'Golo Kante is some player. His Premier League winner's medal with Leicester and seemingly impending title triumph with Chelsea are reminders of that.

However, the midfield dynamo appears to have been slacking this season compared to last, believe it or not.

The France international may have topped to charts for most number of tackles and interceptions with the Foxes during the 2015/16 campaign but, quite remarkably, Kante is only the eighth highest English top flight star when it comes to interceptions this season!

Redknapp: "N'Golo Kante is Bryan Robson, Roy Keane and Claude Makelele rolled into one. I've never seen a player like him. [Mail]

Staggeringly, the likes of Hull City's Curtis Davies, Crystal Palace's Yohan Cabaye and even Arsenal's Laurent Koscielny have better interception rates than Kante does, with the 25-year-old picking up just 59 such balls from 27 league games to date.

Of course, statistics can be misleading. Kante's lack of interceptions could be put down to Chelsea's ability to dominate possession against lesser sides, and the Blues certainly don't have the defensive frailties that Arsenal have.

Regardless, it's an interesting take on the argument that Kante's influence isn't as strong as fans have been led to believe.
