Bechem United U-17 thrashed New Jersey-based TSF Academy 5-0 to hit the ground running in their Dallas Cup opener at the Cotton Bowl.

Coach Freddie Etsiakoh's side would have won by a wider margin if they had scored a second penalty.

Hope Aveyivu bagged a hat-trick and single strikes from Michael Benpong and Razak Abubacar ensured that Bechem United won comfortably.

On Tuesday, the Ghanaian side will return to the pitch to face Solar South-based in Texas-in the delayed fixture.

Bechem's final Group match will be against FC Golden State DA of California South on Wednesday, 17 April 2019.

The Dr Pepper Dallas Cup, commonly known as the Dallas Cup, is an annual international football tournament for invited youth teams. The tournament was established in 1980 and is held in Dallas, Texas, with FC Dallas serving as its host club.

The Cup has tournaments for age groups ranging from U-13 to U-19.

The first ever Dallas Cup saw an English club side from South London, St. Thomas More, win the U-14 cup, an amazing display in goal from Sean Woods saw him lofted onto the shoulders of his team-mates in celebration.
