Footballghana.com can report that Ghanaian international Daniel Amartey has suffered a fresh injury setback.
The midfielder who excels at center-back has not featured in any competitive senior match for his Leicester City side for the past 15 months. An ankle injury he sustained in a match against West Ham has seen him miss action for over a year.
Though he recovered in the months prior to the end of 2019, he has picked up a knock on his ankle again and is set to spend some time on the sideline.
In an interview, Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers at a press conference said: “We’ve seen Daniel play there [center-back] when he’s come back from injury but unfortunately he's not available for this game [against Villa]. He’s had a slight knock on his ankle”.
He added, “He hasn’t been involved so much. It’s been tough because he’s trained ever so well, but the team’s done ever so well, so he’s not been able to feature. He wouldn’t be up for consideration at this point in time."
The Ghanaian is however expected to cover in no time and should be back with his teammates at training.
