Darmstadt defender Patric Pfeiffer to get maiden Black Stars call up for Madagascar AFCON qualifier

Darmstadt 98 defender Patric Pfeiffer is expected to earn his first Black Stars call up for the upcoming AFCON 2023 qualifier against Madagascar.

The West African powerhouse will return to action next month for the remaining games in the qualifiers.

The Germany-born Ghana is among the five players who switched allegiance to play for the Black Stars. Inaki Williams, Ransford Yeboah, Stephan Ambrosius and Tariq Lamptey committed to Ghana in June 2022.

Pfeiffer, who is has enjoyed an amazing season with Darmstadt is the only player who is yet to get a call up into the Black Stars.

According to reports, Black Stars coach Chris Hughton will hand Pfeiffer his maiden call up with Ghana falling short to defenders due to injury setbacks.

Defense duo of Mohamed Salisu and Tariq Lamptey are both injured and will not be part of the yet to be named squad for the qualifiers.

Pfeiffer played a huge role in Darmstadt qualification to the German Bundesliga next season. He has four goals and one assist in 24 Bundesliga II games.
