D'AVERSA: “THOSE WHO TOOK TO THE PITCH FOUGHT HARD AND DUG IN TO COME AWAY WITH THE THREE POINTS”

Following Sassuolo vs. Parma 0-1, the Crociati coach Roberto D’Aversa spoke to the press.

“We need to consider the fact that Sassuolo had scored a lot of goals recently. When you prepare for matches, you take into account the characteristics of your opponents. Those who took to the pitch today fought hard and dug in to achieve three points against a side in top condition psychologically and physically after picking up ten points in their recent matches. I think that we managed to limit a side with two of the best wingers in the league in Berardi and Boga really well."

“It’s only right to make decisions when mistakes are made, but the pitch is all that should be focused on once the reset button has been pushed. My lads have never cast out Gervinho, let’s be clear. The player himself did well to play for 60 minutes after what’s happened, just as the team did well to pick up the three points. Well done to Gervinho on scoring, and well done to the team for making his goal even more valuable by achieving the result they did."

“On top of our many absentees, there were still some players who were struggling. Unfortunately, Darmian had to come off, while Bruno Alves was one of the players who took a knock during the week but still played today, staying out on the pitch for the entire game. Gagliolo also didn’t train earlier in the week but stuck it out today. These problematic circumstances led us to switch to 3-5-2, although the lads did great considering the difficulties. The guys have shown great maturity right from day one. Obviously, you can’t win every match but the lads never let me down in terms of attitude."

“Talk of Europe? We’re in a strong position at the moment. However, the difference between us and other teams is that our goal doesn’t change regardless of whether we win or lose. We remain humble in terms of our objective and we’re still taking things game by game. We’re now seventh in the league and level on points with Verona, although we must keep demonstrating the same determination that we’ve shown so far and we’ll see where are at the end of the season. We set ourselves certain goals here at Parma and over the past four years, the lads have achieved them.”
